About the event

Viv Dawes, an autistic advocate, trainer, author and also parent of a ND teenager, has over 25 years experience of working with neurodivergent people in the criminal justice system, including as a Snr Practitioner in the NHS managing teams of forensic drug workers.  She has managed programmes including an addiction recovery programme that saw numerous people, many who were neurodivergent, find recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol. Viv also has a lifetime's experience of supporting vulnerable neurodivergent people struggling with their mental health and those in crisis - often because of things like autistic and AuDHD burnout. Viv will look at neurodivergent people and mental health and why so many neurodivergent people end up with addictions, involved with the criminal justice system and end up in crisis.
